Merikaarto is a village-like urban area located in the Kyrönjoki river environment, in Vähäkyrö, Vaasa, in the Ostrobothnia region. The beautiful Kyrönjoki River meanders partly through the village centers, from Tervajoki, through the center of Vähäkyrö and Merikaarto, all the way to Vaasa. In the village, there is a beautiful suspension bridge built in 1929, supported by steel cables, and the Kolkki truss bridge built in 1977. Merikaarto's primary school and a new daycare center, to be completed in 2025, are centrally located near the village’s residential area. The area is popular among families with children, and the buildings mainly consist of detached houses and row houses. A significant number of residents commute to work towards Vaasa. The distance to Vaasa city center is about 20 km, and about 15 km to nearby industrial and office workplaces. The commercial and other services of Vähäkyrö center are about 10 km from Merikaarto.
