Tervajoki is a village town, through which the border between Etelä-Pohjanmaa and Pohjanmaa runs. The area is part of the city of Vaasa and the municipality of Isokyrö. The village is a lively centre for car exchange with numerous car dealerships and service stations. Tervajoki has a wide range of services and businesses in various sectors. The railway station is well connected to Vaasa, Seinäjoki, Tampere and Helsinki. There are two schools in the area, the Tervajoki school on the Vaasa side and the Kylkkälä school on the Isonkyrö side. There is also a kindergarten attached to the Tervajoki school. The housing is mainly single-family houses and terraced houses, with a population of different ages, including families with children. The Kyrönjoki flows through the village, with several bridges crossing it. The Hiirikoski hydroelectric power station, which was commissioned in 1921, is located on the banks of the river next to the bridge and is used by Vaasa Electricity for electricity generation. The river is also well-known among recreational fishermen.
